$9,160. It’s almost impossible to believe. Cyndi and I have been in a constant state of shock for the last few days as we process the events of the last week.
Together, you’ve made our dream of adoption a reality.
We can’t find the words to thank you all enough for your sacrifices and generosity. Many of you don’t know us very well, some of you haven’t even met us before, but yet you still donated your time and money to help us start our family. We didn’t know what to expect from the fundraiser, but the overwhelming support and outpouring of love that took place last weekend goes far beyond our wildest hopes. If you would have asked us last week, we would have told you that never in a thousand years would we have dreamed that we would ever have enough money to cover the cost of the adoption. Yet here we are, a week later, fully funded.
Thank you for caring. Thank you for sacrificing. Thank you for donating. Thank you for telling other people about our story. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your love. Thank you for helping us reach our goal. Thank you for enabling us to start a family. We will never forget how much you’ve blessed us. It will be a story we tell our (future) kids for the rest of our lives.
Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We would love for you to continue to be a part of our adoption story. Keep in touch with us through our site wearealladopted.com so that we can update you on the rest of the adoption progress. We’ll keep posting updates and someday (hopefully soon!) pictures of our new family.
-Ben and Cyndi
Really cool news. Cyndi and I had our home study, and we have been officially approved by the state of Utah to adopt! In short, the government has deemed us fit to be parents.
The home study was much less nerve racking than we expected. Our social worker was easy to work with and did a great job of helping us feel comfortable. She met the dogs, walked around the house, asked a few questions that weren’t already answered in our paperwork, and then we chatted about adoption, marriage, kids etc for an hour or so.
After our visit, our social worker wrote up her report and sent it to her boss for approval. A few days later we received a call letting us know that we are approved!
The next step is for us to update our information and create an adoption profile for expectant parents to review. After that we wait!
How you can continue to help-
1. Donate, if you can, to our adoption fund.
2. Tell your friends and family about our adoption story and spread the word! Many successful adoptions happen because of word of mouth. The more people who know about our story, the greater our chances of getting placed are.
Love you all! Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and support.
Hey all! Ben here. Wanted to post a quick update after the events of today. Our hearts are so full.
We just finished filling out the 16 page home study questionnaire. We just need to get a few other items in order and our home study will be ready to go!
We also have been working on getting our background checks/paperwork for the adoption application put together. We still have a lot of work to do there, but we are making great headway.
It’s been awesome to talk to people about our adoption story: why we are adopting, our experience so far, why adoption is so important. The more people hear about the fact that we are adopting, the more people ask us about it and/or share how adoption has touched their lives. Cyndi and I feel very lucky to be able to be a part of it all.
Lastly, I wanted to update everyone on our fundraising efforts. Since our last update about a week ago, an additional FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1500) has been donated to support our future family! We are in COMPLETE shock. We cannot believe how kind you all have been to us. Adoption felt so far away so recently in the past, it seems to unreal that we are that much closer to it becoming a reality.
God bless you all. We are forever in your debt.
Hi everyone! Ben here. Wanted to update you on a BUNCH of super exciting news.
First, Cyndi and I are in complete awe. We have been blessed so much over the holidays by generous hearts who have donated to support our adoption story. We’ve had anonymous donations, we’ve had money slipped to us in cards, we’ve had a family give up their Christmas in order to give to our cause financially: we feel so unworthy of the love you all have shown us!
This means that, since our last update, we have had an additional $1,040 DONATED! That means that between the money Cyndi and I have saved and the money we have had donated to us by people who love us we have been able to raise $5,040 or 1/6th of the total cost of the adoption. This is SO unbelievable. Thank you to everyone who has shared our story or donated to make our future family a reality.
Second piece of news- we have received a questionnaire from our social worker Joni that we will fill out before the home study takes place. Cyndi and I hope to have the questionnaires (there is one for Cyndi and one for me) filled out and submitted by Friday night. There are a few other items for the homestudy that we are working on and will take a minute to gather (pet immunizations, family referrals, medical referrals etc).
Additionally, we have the adoption application for our agency, Guardian Angel House, and are working on gathering the necessary paperwork to submit (here’s a link to the required paperwork etc. for anyone who might need it- http://www.aguardianangel.net/adoptive-parents/adoptive-parents-application/). Angie at Guardian Angel has been super helpful getting us all the info we need.
This time of year is all about resolutions for the new year. Cyndi and I are so excited that starting our little family is on the top of the 2014 list.
Love you all,
We’ve received such an amazing flood of support this week from people who have donated to our adoption fund and shared our website. We honestly can’t express our gratitude with words. You are all so dear to our hearts.
Since we launched the website Tuesday, your generosity has donated $970 to support our adoption process. Almost $1,000 in less than a week. We cannot believe it. There are no words!
With these funds we are now able to schedule our home-study, the first major step in the adoption journey. I’ll keep everyone updated on the site as to when the home study is happening and how it goes. YOU made this possible!
God bless and Merry Christmas!
This site has been a long time coming. For a lot of reasons. I’ll spare you the details except to say that it is finally here!
Cyndi and I are so excited to share our story with you. From our past- which you can read on this site in the “Our Story” section- to each step of our adoption process which you will be able to read here as our story unfolds.
We are also thrilled to have you all be a part of our adoption narrative. Whether you donate financially, share this site with your friends and family, or both, it’s amazing to us that have you be a part of our future family in such a unique way.
If you are reading this, thank you so much for caring enough about Cyndi and I to come to this site and check out our adoption story. We love you and can’t wait to see how this all turns out.
Lately I had a thought about fatherhood.
I know a lot of people who are dads, but it seems harder and harder to find good dads. Dads who are around, who care about their families in real, tangible ways. Dads who give sacrificially and put their families before anything else.
Cyndi and I were both very fortunate to have good fathers in our lives. Both of our parents are still married, they have great marriages, and both of our families are still very close. None of us kids are in jail or involved in shady business dealings. All of our siblings are in good shape and most have beautiful families of their own. I think a great deal of that success can be attributed to parents who did a really wonderful job of being moms and dads.
Just about any joe-schmo can father a child, but only a true man can be a great father to that child.
We are starting the adoption process! We’re excited to share stories, successes, thoughts, and updates here with you. We’re excited to have YOU be a part of our adoption story!
We are ALL adopted!
